Lee County-Cedar Creek Site | |
The Lee County-Cedar Creek Site presents a mix of natural and disturbed landscapes. The area, historically significant, features wooded sections with dense vegetation, including oak and pine trees, interspersed with open clearings. Cedar Creek, a slow-moving waterway, meanders through the site, bordered by eroded banks and patches of wetland flora. Unfortunately, parts of the site are marred by human activity, including an unsightly garbage dump. The dump consists of discarded household waste, rusted metal debris, broken glass, and old tires, creating an environmental hazard. Scattered litter extends beyond the main dumping ground, with plastic bags caught in tree branches and remnants of past disposals embedded in the soil. The presence of wildlife—raccoons, scavenger birds, and insects—is evident around the waste, drawn by the discarded food and shelter opportunities. Despite the intrusion of the garbage dump, the surrounding natural elements still retain some of their beauty, offering a stark contrast between human neglect and nature’s resilience.
