Thyroid RFA | |
Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat thyroid nodules (abnormal growths or lumps in the thyroid gland). Using imaging techniques such as ultrasound, a specialized needle electrode is guided into the thyroid nodule during RFA. The targeted tissue is then subjected to radiofrequency energy, which generates heat and causes thermal coagulation, ultimately shrinking or destroying the nodule. This procedure is considered a viable alternative to surgery for certain thyroid conditions because it is less invasive, requires less recovery time, and leaves less scarring. Thyroid RFA is typically performed by trained medical professionals and has shown promising results in the management of benign thyroid nodules, alleviating symptoms and improving the overall quality of life for those affected. | |
