The movie, which is set in a number of eras and places, tackles issues of racial identity, love, resiliency, and African-American experience. The stories, which are adaptations of works by Richard Wright, John Henrik Clarke, and Maya Angelou, show a farmer dealing with racial tensions, a young child using art to challenge social standards, and old friends thinking back on their history. Every story provides a compelling, perceptive glimpse into the challenges and victories faced by African-Americans. | |
