Selecting DTF (Direct to Film) powder: A guide.
The Categorization of DTF Powder Fine DTF powder, resembling flour, typically consists of particles ranging in size from 0 to 70 microns. The hand feel of the material is good, but its fastness is compromised in high air humidity conditions, leading to easy adherence of powder to the blank areas of the printed film. This product is specifically designed for efficient powder coating of small letters. Medium powder consists of particles ranging in size from 70 to 170 microns, similar to the size of table salt. All DTF printers used powder with a size range of 80–160 microns. The granular feature is evident, as 85% of customers prefer medium powder due to its ease of shaking compared to fine powder. Furthermore, the tactile sensation is superior to that of a rough powder. Coarse powder refers to a granular substance that has a relatively large particle size. The particle size of coarse powder ranges from 120 to 240 microns, similar to that of sugar. The powder has a large gap, making it easy to remove by shaking. It also provides a good three-dimensional appearance. Coarse powder is recommended for wet conditions in the summer or when customers desire a three-dimensional effect. However, it has a higher consumption rate compared to medium powder. White powder is commonly used, while black powder is used sparingly on dark garments to prevent colour bleeding. However, the usage of black powder is expected to be relatively significant. White powder is suitable for wearing with any fabric colour, while black powder is not. Black powder is primarily composed of TPU rubber powder and activated carbon. Its main function is to prevent sublimation, commonly used on fabrics such as polyester and bags. Sublistar has developed a breathable DTF powder. The DTF T-shirt offers several advantages, including its versatility across various fabric types, vibrant colour options, excellent reversibility, and affordability. The material exhibits a broad spectrum of printable colours and possesses high opacity. Drawbacks of DTF printing include limited breathability and the tendency for patterns to fade or detach after repeated washing, which is a widely criticised aspect. Sublistar has developed a breathable DTF powder as a solution to this problem. Methods for T-shirt Maintenance The newly manufactured T-shirt may initially have a stiff texture, but it will become softer upon washing. Typically, newly processed T-shirts require cleaning within a two-day period. It is advisable to refrain from rubbing the surface of the T-shirt pattern with your hands, as the heat transfer pattern's surface material typically does not adhere to dirt. To ensure proper cleaning, it is recommended to wash with water at a temperature below 40°C and to avoid using chlorine-based detergents. It is advisable to refrain from utilising a washing machine for laundering purposes. Prior to washing in the washing machine, it is recommended to turn the pattern side to the reverse side. Promptly remove the laundry from the washing machine upon completion and refrain from using a tumble dryer. To avoid neckline deformation during washing, it is advisable to refrain from scrubbing the neckline vigorously. During the drying process, only the loose part of the clothing's hem can be pulled inward by the hanger. To prevent the neckline from loosening due to loss of elasticity, avoid applying immediate pressure to the neckline. To ensure natural drying, it is advisable to refrain from exposing the heat transfer T-shirt to direct sunlight. To maintain the elasticity of clothing, it is recommended to use medium temperature steam for ironing after drying. High temperature ironing can damage the organisational structure of elastic fibres and diminish the clothing's elastic effect. It is advisable to refrain from ironing patterns directly.
