The trek starts from the lush green valleys of Skardu, and from there, trekkers make their way to the village of Askole, the last inhabited settlement before entering the remote wilderness of the Karakoram. The journey to K2 Base Camp follows the same route as the traditional K2 Base Camp Trek, passing through iconic sites like Paiyu, Urdukas, Goro II, and Concordia — the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods.” After reaching K2 Base Camp and spending time at Concordia, trekkers take a more challenging and lesser-traveled route over the Gondogoro La Pass (5,585 meters/18,323 feet), which leads them down to the Hushe Valley. The pass offers stunning panoramic views of four of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks: K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II.
