THE BEST Tasks To Outsource To A Virtual Assistant

Over the last few years, I've hired several virtual assistants to support various aspects of my businesses. The number one question I get from other entrepreneurs, friends, and even my mom is, "What should I hire a virtual assistant for?" In this video, I'm going to share my top five tasks that I've successfully outsourced to virtual assistants. These are the areas where you’ll see the most potential for integrating a virtual assistant into your business and getting the best return on investment (ROI). Let's dive in.

Starting with number five: administrative tasks. Regardless of the industry you're in—whether it's social media, construction, or fish tanks—there are tedious parts of your business that are not worth your time. This could include scheduling, managing spreadsheets, or data entry. These tasks do not yield a high ROI for your time as an entrepreneur, so it's best to delegate them as soon as possible. You can either automate these tasks with software or outsource them. Virtual assistants are ideal for this type of work because the tasks are repetitive and easy to teach. Once a virtual assistant is trained, they can handle these duties independently.

Next, at number four, we have video editing. This is one of my favorite tasks to outsource because online video is enormous right now. Whether you're using YouTube for content marketing, running Facebook ads, or posting short-form videos on TikTok, video editing is essential. For business owners, it’s not time-efficient to become proficient video editors when there are higher ROI tasks to focus on. Many skilled video editors are available virtually, making it an affordable solution. I’ve hired at least a dozen video editors over the years for my various channels and businesses, with consistently positive experiences.

In the third spot is customer service. Although I haven't hired many customer service virtual assistants, I see great value in outsourcing this task. Customer service can be highly repeatable, with about 80% of inquiries falling into common categories. Training someone to handle these standard issues can free up a lot of time. While it's not as straightforward as administrative tasks, it's still manageable for a virtual assistant with some experience.

At number two is graphic design. Just like video editing, graphic design is crucial for nearly every business. If you have a website, social media presence, or any online activity, you’ll need quality graphic design. While tools like Canva are great when you're starting, hiring a virtual assistant for graphic design can significantly elevate your brand. The difference between good and bad graphic design is stark, and a skilled graphic designer can help establish a more professional image.

Finally, the top task to outsource to a virtual assistant is social media management. Social media is broad and encompasses many activities, such as content creation, scheduling, and scripting. These tasks can consume a lot of time, so it’s essential to focus on your strengths and outsource the rest. However, hiring a virtual assistant for social media requires clarity on what you need. Be specific about whether you need help with graphic design, scripting, or scheduling content. A clear understanding of your needs will make the hiring process smoother and increase the chances of finding the right person.
