Trinity! | |
Based on what I see and hear on TV (religious shows), this seems to be a topic that many wrestle with and that is why I am posting this. It is apparent to me that believers and unbelievers share this problem; I used to not understand as much as I do now till I did some studying. This is a KJV Bible study guide. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (The word ghost should be spirit; God’s spirit is not a ghost or spook. The Father, the Son and His spirit are one. The Word was made flesh [Jesus Christ] and dwelt among us). Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: Isaiah 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. (There is one God and Saviour). 1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. (Different administrations and operations, but, the same God). 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (This verse leaves no doubt that we are spirit, soul and body). My words follow: I would call them different offices with different responsibilities and duties which is just a different way to say administrations and operations. Much like each of us can say the same about ourselves; some of us are fathers or mothers, all of us are sons or daughters and all of us have a spirit. I’m not saying that we are equal to God in any way; He did say, “Let us make man in our image”. I’m just trying to word this in a way that I can understand this topic better. I would like to try another explanation. At the moment a wife is impregnated by her husband and conceives, that woman and child with the fathers DNA in its body are three in one. I fully realize my attempts to explain are feeble at best, but I honestly try. I’m sure we humans will never be able to understand the trinity completely. In some way that I can’t fully understand as of yet, 3 are one and one can manifest Himself in at least three ways. I recently heard it put another way, H2O/water can manifest itself in at least 3 different ways, ice/solid, water/liquid and steam/gas. All are the same water, just in 3 different physical states at that time. Food for thought: God is infinite (transcendent, without human limits), we are finite; we humans have many limits! This topic requires further study and prayer on my part. There are numerous verses that go along with those above; not enough room to include them all here though. Complete and continuous study of the Bible is the answer. In the meantime, | |
