This is a KJV Bible study guide. Psalm 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. [Did you catch that, this is conditional, we must trust Him]. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (If someone asks you what is truth, say God’s Word is truth! You cannot put your complete trust in a human to tell you the truth. You can completely trust God and His word). Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. [God's word can do what]? Engrafted: inborn, implanted by nature, implanted by others instruction. James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. [Hearers only of the word do what? Remember, we must be doers of the word which means, to obey, to trust in Him, to learn of Him, etc.]. What happens if you forsake, despise or reject God's word? Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. [See Proverbs 1:7 (fools do what)?; Isaiah 1:28; Jeremiah 15:6; and John 3:18 for some verses that answer the above question. There are many more. WOW!!! I don't want to be in this boat]. [How do you gain the kind of knowledge you need? See 2 Timothy 2:15 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17 for your answer. I'd rather be in this boat]. There is only the Bible, the single source of power that will change our lives from the inside out. But it takes effort, diligent, everyday effort, to know the God who controls everything. If we drink deeply of His Word and let it fill our minds and hearts, the sovereignty of God will become clear to us, and we will rejoice in it because we will know intimately and trust completely the God who controls all things for His perfect purpose. There is only one truth you can count on eternally and that is truth from God’s Word. If someone says something is in the Bible, verify it is true or false by checking it out in God’s Word. This responsibility falls on each of us; see 1 John 4:1.  | |
